New Orleans blight reduction timeline

I. Blighted addresses and empty lots declined rapidly between March 2008 and September 2010 as billions of Road Home dollars flowed to homeowners (slides 1–6).

II. Blight reduction slows after September 2010 as Road Home ramps down, but City efforts intensify (slides 7–9).

III. The number of blighted addresses and empty lots in New Orleans has decreased by somewhere between 4,500 and 11,500 since September 2010 (as of March 2012). The City will need to begin coordinating citywide data collection efforts to track blight going forward, as USPS data will provide less reliable indicators over time.
